Edwards RV3 Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump RV-3 115-120V 50/60Hz Dual Stage High Vacuum
This is a used Edwards two stage rotary vane vacuum pump. It was partially disassembled for cleaning since it had been in a garage for a while. The plastic motor housing is cracked at the two attachment locations.
I'm betting this is typical because it is not well reinforced. If someone accidentally kicked the housing this damage would be likely.
The housing above the motor that contains the start/run capacitors is accessible by removing four screws that attach to threaded inserts in another plastic housing above the motor. Someone must have over tightened one of these screws and it broke the threaded insert free. I suspect this is another common problem. The pump was powered up and runs quietly and there is suction and exhaust.Neither of the issues discussed in 1 and 2 above affected performance. This pump is still made so if you want to replace the damaged pieces they are probably available. Note that an oil mist filter is attached and is included. Weight is about 70 lbs.
