Welch Duo-Seal Vacuum Pump 1397 B-01 120/240V 1HP Cleaned Tested High Vacuum
Belt Drive Rotary Vane V. Acuum Pump in Good, Clean, working condition.
It appears to have been in storage for many years- probably because the because the motor was bad. I replaced the motor and flushed the pump oil. Motor and pump both stay cool after running over 3 hours.
Includes safety shroud (belt guard). Large diameter hose barb on inlet, and oil-mist baffle on exhaust. Unit appears to have been professionally serviced and inspected or refurbished at some point (see service stickers in photo). I tested vacuum and it pumps quickly down below 30 inches Hg of vacuum (see photo).
I did not notice any oil leaks while this sat in my garage for 5 months, nor while I ran it for several hours on multiple occasions recently. New power cord and switch. Cord is about 8-10' long. Wired for 120V AC, but is easily converted to 240V.
UPDATE (12/21/17): I have tested this unit with a sensitive High-Vacuum gauge - it reads 90-Microns (see photo). This was reached in about 10-20 seconds. This was tested using 5W-20 motor oil (not high vacuum oil) and a rubber cork, so ultimate vacuum with proper oil should be even better. Unit is tested and fully functional. This pump is securely bolted to a small pallet (30" x 40"), and wrapped in heavy visqueen (see photo).Total weight is approximately 210 pounds. Some general info about this model.
The Welch 1397 is a reliable and durable vacuum pump. These are great for a lot of industrial applications. With proper care and maintenance these pumps will last a long time.
